    Power steering box is shot

    Hi!

My power steering box on my 61 is shot, and I'm looking for an replacement. Do you know where I could get a replacement? Is there anyone who have used a box from a newer car, eg. a mustang from 80s-90s, or from another car???

I have searched ebay and found nothing, not an original one anyway.

I don't know about a replacement, but there is a guy in Lubbock, Texas that rebuilt mine and did a great job; I know he has one because I traded an extra core I had for a discount.

You can look up the Water Pump Factory online to get his #

ok, I wil do a search, but since I live in Norway, it may be difficult because of the distance.

About an conversion to a box from an newer car, anyone got any tips?

The reason I consider this from a newer car, is that my 61 is a custom anyway, so I'm not afraid to try new things :-)

You can see some pics of the car at our local club website here:

Keep in eye on ebay at www.ebay.com. Look under 61-63 Thunderbird in ebay motors to see if you can find a used one. New items are added daily.

If you call Bob's Bird House or Pat Wilson, you should be able to get a good used or rebuilt one.

thanks for the replys. I had the box rebuilt at a local firm, and now it runs great :-)

Even if the car is somewhat custom-light, I'm trying to keep the most of the internals original, you never know when the urge to have an original ride comes to mind.
