    will not shut off

    Just took the bird out of storage got her started and when I went to shut her off she kept on running. I had to disconnect the neg cable turn the key to run then off before she shut down anyone else ever had this problem

    There's only a few things it could be. One, the ignition switch may not be shutting off power to the coil. Two, the solenoid may be feeding 12V to the coil continuously and the other is a condition called dieseling where the car continues to run after being shut off. I've only seen that happen when cars are driven for awhile and get really hot. if that wasn't the case I would suspect the ignition switch or the solenoid. I would check to see if you have voltage to the coil with the key off. If you do remove the brown wire on the solenoid. If the voltage goes away your solenoid is most likely defective. If not it's probably the ignition switch.

      Thanks i was thinking the ign switch but while i here at work thought i would put it out there ans c if anyone else had it happen to them once again thank you

        John give excellent advice. Let me add that it is very unusual for this type of failure.

        Was any of the wiring changed in your car or under the hood?
        If so, that might explain why this is happening.

          No none of the wiring was changed, it was working great before i put her up for the winter
