    Fender skirts.???????????

Having just acquired an incredibly rust free 60 coupe here in the UK, a recent import from California, i am collating some of the missing items needed to make the car complete and usable.

One of the cosmetic items needed are fender skirts, but, i am struggling to come to terms with the secondhand prices being asked, what should i expect to pay for a good pair of skirts?

    Fender skirts.???????????

It all depends on the condition of the fender skirts and the availability. One person who might be able to give you better insight into your question is Carl Heller ~ partsetal here on our Forum. In fact, since he has a lot of Squarebird parts, he also might have a set for sale. Send him a Private Message (PM), or perhaps if he sees this, he will respond here.

Yes, the prices are pretty high if not outrageous. One problem is that not all Squarebirds came with skirts from the factory so the supply is even more limited. Did your car originally have them. If not there's no need for them unless you really like the look. If so then you're going to have to pay what the market bears. There are fiberglass reproductions but I wouldn't recommend them.

People are asking $400-600 for secondhand oem skirts, if that is the going price, then i will have to put up, or shut up, I am surmising my car had them fitted at some stage as the mounting pins are present, the cars dont look quite right without skirts, there is not continuity of the spear, so the aesthetic is reduced. And as for tupperware skirts, not a chance in ****.

As Ray suggested, contact Carl Heller to see if he has a set. I imagine he'd be a little more reasonable than $400-600. The Hershey car show is coming up this week so he may be able to find you a set if he doesn't have any.

I saw a nice pair at Carlisle this week for 250. at Bob's Bird House and that seems the price I see most often.

I've got an extra set I would be willing to sell for less than any of those prices. Need to be refinished, of course. PM me if interested in details etc

I have mailed to the seller when they list that they don´t sell overseas, and asked if they could concider it anyway. And often they change there mind. There seems to be some who are scared to loos the money, but I have so far a good record with quick payment, and that can help to convince them. Other times, I have asked if it´s OK to bid on the promice that they can ship in within US. In those c****s, I have to know someone who can send it to me afterwards. But most times, it have worked out pretty nice after asking them. Good Luck.
P.S I find them a bit expensive though...

Where is your entrepreneurial initiative? you should of picked them, packed them up, and made yourself a few bucks in the process, an opportunity missed, but thanks for the thought, it is handy to know that they can be bought for sensible money.
