    Tbird Timemachine Needs Some Help

I received this email from Chris - Tbird Timemachine regarding his '66 Landau Tbird. Apparently, he is having problems posting. Here is what he had to say.

"Yes, I could use some help I guess. I had a hard time submitting my post.... Anyhow, I am new to the hobby and not very knowledgeable about cars in general. Luckily, I have my Dad who is a mechanic of sorts. I just got my timemachine a couple of months ago so we needed to do a few things. 1) change the brake lines 2) replace alot of gaskets and seals. We replaced the intake manifold gaskets since they were leaking really bad in the front and back. Problem is, now the driver side is making a 'ticking' noise. Initially, we had a different kind of noise sounded really bad and fairly loud which we found was the valves rubbing against the oil pan or whatever that plate thing is below the rocker arm. So we bent the plate away to make clearance and it was much better. Now, we have this 'ticking' or 'clattering' noise which appears to be coming from the valves or push-rods going up and down. Almost as if they need more lubrication or something. Any ideas? Good news is no leaks! Also, we are not sure where to run all the vacuum lines and do not know how to reattach the linkages. Any help with these matters or any tips in general would be appreciated by this novice."

I have tried to communicate via email with him, but he must not have my personal email addresses in his address book and I guess they went into his Spam folder. Perhaps he will see your responses to his problems here.

Were the exhaust gaskets replaced?I believe that leaking exhaust gaskets can sound remarkably like valve gear wear- I have seen a piece of garden hose used to locate the leak,by holding one end to your ear and the other end to suspect locations on or around the exhaust manifold

The oil baffle you had to bend, is it full of running oil when the engine is idling? Any flow from the pushrods @ the rocker arm tips? Are the top of the cylinder heads wet with return oil or fairly dry? Any engine misses?

Someone here should be able to post a photo of fuel linkage hookup if that is the problem.
