    Ryan ~ Wudro's New Wheels....

    "Hello Ray.
My name is Ryan, username Wudro. I haven’t been on the site for awhile, but I’m back! I’ve found another 1960 Thunderbird Project, similar to my original one. With one difference, it is rust free and most of the bodywork has been done. I’ll use parts off of both to help with the build. I’m driving back to Phoenix from Las Vegas with it in the Trailer today. I’m wondering if I can send you the VIN and we can get it Registered in the Thunderbird Registry. Please let me know how to proceed with that. And I’ll check if the data plate is still on it when I get it home. Thanks in advance, I’m excited!

Thanks for the info Ray! Everything is the same as my 1st car, except the Blue Paint. My original one is the Acapulco Blue. Yes, there are a couple different white colors going on here. Some of the body is a little rough, with white primer. And other sections are a shiny, finished white. I’m guessing just different stages of bodywork. Maybe they did parts and sprayed them to protect them from the weather.
    Ryan Underwood"

Ryan has the Data Plate so I provided Ryan with the Tbird Registry link and he is registering it, since it is not in the Registry. Here are a couple of pix he sent me.

Thanks Ray and Dan! I’m very excited to be working on my dream car again, albeit a different one. Luckily, I can use everything from the first car that I have bought/repaired. I started the Disc Brake Conversion this weekend, with the help of Dave Dare. He assisted me with rounding up all the parts over 3 years ago. I’ve opened all the boxes and got rolling, but I hit a snag. The Scarebird brackets have only a couple loose bolts and spacers and clips, but NO instructions. Does anyone have a copy they could post or send me? If not, I’ll email them directly tomorrow when they are open. Thanks in Advance!

        Look through this thread.

It has all the pictures and info you will need to complete your conversion. It's rather long but it's worth checking out. It will save you from making mistakes.

Thanks John. Yeah, Marcelo’s Thread is the one I am following. I’m unsure how to mount the Scarebird Brackets, and no threads in the Disc Brake Forum show the process. I guess I just have to get my own hardware and do it that way. Not sure what the bolts that came with it are for. Or the spacers. Or the bolt with the cotter pin. I have an email sent to them directly, let’s see if they reply. I just don’t want to miss something.

You have a short bolt and a long bolt that holds the bracket to the spindle. They can only go one way. You have a spacer that goes on the spindle. You have a new clip that holds the brake hose to the bracket and you have a new cotter pin that goes through the spindle nut. Marcelo's pictures clearly show the assembly order and the finished product. I don't know what more anyone can tell you that's better than the pictures.

Correction: the smaller bolt is the banjo bolt that holds the brake hose to the caliper. You will have to reuse the two smaller bolts that held the backing plate to the spindle.

According to the website you should've gotten a detailed information sheet. The hardest part is getting the spacer on the spindle. You may need to heat it to get it to slide all the way on.

Yeah, I saw that as well. There’s a chance I misplaced it, it’s been years. But I have all the rest of the receipts and other literature from the other parts, so who knows. No biggie. I’ll figure it out. Thanks again for the assistance.

Hey everyone.Hope all are well. I’ve been making slow progress on my new Tbird. I got the disc brake conversion done on the bottom side, and then sent it off to bodywork jail for the last 8 months.

The previous owner said that all the bodywork was done, you know how that goes. So they started in on it and of course found a few things hidden under bondo-but for the most part it is in really good shape.

Some rust in the usual places, plus the front eye socket was punched in.

The guys did some nice metal work to repair it. We cut the headlight area out of the old Tbird, which is a donor now.
