67 power steering to header clearance

  • 67 power steering to header clearance

    Hey guys just dropped my 390 in with fpa headers in my 67 . fit like a glove well like ojs glove but it's in only one problem and it's a major one . My power steering hose is right on header tube even adjusted to end of bracket I omly have eighth inch clearance on tube does anyone have any suggestions on a 90 degree fitting or a hose I could use to gain enough clearance ?

      Joe sent me a picture of what he's dealing with. It appears the issue is the hose coming out of the power steering pump. Hopefully someone has some ideas.

        It looks to me like you need a 3/8" male to female 90 degree elbow. I would try your local home center store like Lowes or Home Depot in the plumbing department. That way you can bring the hose in from the top.

              That's for sure this was my first ford rebuild and I chose a 67 lol its been intresting to say the least . I have researched engineered fabricated modified more on this project than any of my other projects . Every part I have been able to locate has been like xmas when I was a kid lol . I have found myself over thinking and second guessing every step of the way but in long run its worth it thanks for all your help

                Unfortunately there isn't alot available either in parts or information pertaining to post '66 Thunderbirds. Ford did use some of the same parts in their other models back in the mid-late 60's so you're not totally out of luck. However anytime you're talking about custom upgrades there's a certain amount of fabrication that comes with it. As long as you take everything in stride and not let it frustrate you too much you'll get enjoyment out of what you've accomplished.

                  The '67 is a great car, radical styling. The suicide doors gives the 4 door version huge collector value, rare for a 4 door.
