How do I install the trunk and Hood insulation material

Okay so I bought the inserts for the Hood and the trunk how do you install it do you glue it to the roof of both and what do you glue it with seems a little tricky since they want to slide around in there

Same for me. Did get new ones as those that came with car are not so nice but since they are glued on I am wondering if I want to go with the pain of removing them clean.

3M products are the industry standard. 3M trim adhesive or 3M contact adhesive will work. I've used both to glue the inserts over the years. The trim adhesive gives you more time to work. The contact adhesive is pretty much permanent once you stick it on.

do you have more complete names for the 3M products you're talking about? I can not find them in France as they probably bear different names here. What form are they : Spray, glue, tape?

These are the two products I use the most. The yellow adhesive will give you some working time. The contact adhesive will set right away.

I may be wrong but it is my understanding that Birds built for the warmer climate did not have hood insulation . With a beautiful paint job on the underside , why cover it .

Some people use tar paper. Others order them from the Tbird parts houses...

Got mine from Bird Nest but I should have kept those on the car as they were not bad at all. I was expecting something different and thought I had something wrong on the car. But anyway it is rather cheap.
3M is not so well easy to find here so I got Neoprene Spray glue from another well known manufacturer.

'58 & '59 Squarebirds did have hood inserts but most '60's I've seen did not. Here's my '59 with the factory inserts. Of course they were tan originally before the dirt and oil got to them.

Here is what the VTCI Official Factory Specifications (OFS) CD says about the Hood Lining... They are stated as being OFS on the 1958 & 1959, and into the early 1960 Squarebird production run, but dropped in mid to later production on the 1960 production run. See the graphic from the OFS.

My 1960 has hood insulation. It was built January 20, 1960, and then delivered with factory AC to Colorado.

Glad this subject came up. Mine looks to have original inserts but since I'm in a hot climate I guess I should remove them. Hadn't thought of that to help keep the engine cool. Someone painted the inside of my hood and inserts flat black.
