  • Chris Prettys Up His '60 Squarebird!

Below are some pix that Chris ~ bird 60 sent me after prettying up his trunk area on his '60 Squarebird. I love the trunk interior, the red box holder for his jack with the Tbird emblem on it (you can't see it in these pix, but it is there), and the chrome he laid down in the channel areas. Here is what he had to say and the pix.

"Hi Ray, Just prettied up my Trunk channels. Before & after shots. Mirror shine stainless steel. Laser cut, 3 pieces on each side. Made prototype with cardboard. One would think that both sides would be identical, but not. I had to do a lot of twisting & bending but everything turned out good. Cost was $200 for parts only. I did all the rest myself. Tell me what you think. Yiasou....Chris "

I already told him that I thought it really helps set off the trunk area. I certainly like the material in his trunk, and matching catch all bag, and the jack box. Here are the pix. The first one will be of the trunk with the original channels. Then you will see how he inlaid them with shiny chromed material. If you look close, you will also see part of his face in some of the pix as he took close ups of his work! lol.. You can also see his trunk stopper that he uses to keep the trunk lid from closing on him. I use a chisel painted yellow that slips between the springs to keep my trunk lid open. Because I have that huge Thunderbird panel screwed to the inside of the trunk lid...

Chris the stainless steel inlays on the trunk channels certainly accent the trunk

Hi Dano! lol... It is not that kind of Stoner you might be thinking of! It is a box of Stoner car care products that I have. Here is a link to their website.

Ray - I'm betting from the closing "Yiasou" from Chris - I'll say the case is for Baklava (or maybe Spanakopita) and the bag hides all the Ouzo
            (just kidding of course)

            Looking great !

Ray, do you live in a yellow house? Different strokes for different folks! How did you settle the Tweety Bird theme?

Chris Prettys Up His '60 Squarebird!

Eric, I think we will have to see what Chris has to say about that! Lol...

Dean, yes, as a matter of fact, I do have a house with yellow siding, but that is not the reason why Tweety Bird is Tweety Bird yellow! My wife, for many years, loved yellow roses, and roses of all colors, actually. But yellow ones were a favorite of hers. So about 9 years after she had passed away I bought my '59 Squarebird. It was Casino Cream with a white top, but I did not like the pale yellow color and no one else seemed to either. So I decided to repaint her, and picked bright yellow to set her off. I had named her "The Yellow Rose Of Texas" in honor of Faye, but after the team that painted her with bright yellow and white metal flake paint, they started calling her "Tweety Bird" and that name stuck. It happens to be that Tweety Bird and Sylvester ***** Cat were two of Faye's favorite cartoon characters. So now they ride shotgun in the passenger seat with Sylvester sitting to the right of Tweety.

A few years before Faye passed away from ovarian cancer, (check out her website fayclark.home.texas.net that I created right after her passing. It is still up and operating and saving lives 20 years later!), we made a trip to Pennsylvania to visit my family. While there, we went to a typical PA country fair, where she found this little guy dressed in a shirt, and jeans, and a baseball cap. She brought him back home with us on the plane, and a number of people tried to buy him from her during the flight! She said "nope he is mine and not for sale", as she rode with him between her legs. For years, he stood holding the end of the couch up so to speak, until I decided to put him to work. He "drives" Tweety Bird when she is on display at S&S events these days.

I added a few comments, and was going to add a few more pix, but I am getting an internal server error for some reasons. Chris, I apologize for detracting from your original post....

Ray, I have advised people not to get attached to personal property, but you are the exception. I'll always see your car differently from now on.

No apology required Ray. Your BIRD looks stunning. With the chrome strip Scott, I was going to repaint the trunk channel but decided to go with the mirror shine stainless steel instead. Eric, now that you've guessed what's in my bag, come to our next Show & Shine & I'll share some with you. I'll pop in some other Greek delicacies as well.
