  • 3 Sp O/D Question

I know very few Ford's came with that
cable operated Ovr/Drive on the 3 sp.

I wonder if that would work on a an automatic?
    Poor man's gearvendor.

    T 85 overdrive

The Square Birds used the T85 overdrive. This is my 1960 T Bird T85 overdrive transmission. The 4 pinion planetary is located in the tail housing. Exact same length,31 spline output, etc as the COM. Complete Borg/Warner designed unit with automatic electric controls. (governor, relay, solenoid, kickdown switch) The cable handle pulled out mechanicly locked out the overdrive, straight conventional 3 speed. Cable handle pushed in the overdrive was in the automatic mode. Very smooth working unit with a 30% reduction of engine rpms when in overdrive.
