  • Swapping my fender mirror - 1958

I'm changing the rearview fender mirror (driver's side) on my 58 Bird. I'm a little hesitant through because I'm afraid that if there are any retaining parts inside the fender, they'll drop off and I'll have to go "fishing" once the old one comes off... Does anyone know if these mirrors can be simply unscrewed and replaced, or is there a bit more to this than I think?

Two screws and they come off. There's nothing inside the fender. Simple as can be.

Brilliant! Thanks Jopizz. So, just unscrew the old, screw on the new, and swagger like a boss? Do the screws just screw into the sheet metal, or is there some sort of hardware built into the underside of the fender for this screws to go into?

They're just sheet metal screws that go right into the fender. There's nothing underneath.
