Hi all, Im new to the squarebird site. I bought 60 convert in buckets and it came with a rebuilt 430 and rebuilt trans. It didnt have any mounts on the engine. However I dont think its the original engine. when I use the 352 mounts it sits to close to the steering box. I saw the mounts and frame pieces that tbird430 shows on his post of 5/27/08 and I do not have those. I am thinking of modifying the frame crossbrace engine mounts to move the engine forward. That way I could use the 352 mounts. Seems like I only need about 3/4 inch and it would be fairly simple to do. Has someone did this? Any problems? Thanks,

Does your Bird's VIN# state it came with the 430cid from the factory?

Vin code J. (430) It looks like something may have been welded on in front of upper control arm at one time but its gone now. After doing some checking, I used 390 mounts, reversed them to move the motor forward and notched the original crossmember mounts with a 1 inch square hole to gain the last 1/2 inch. I will make a square washer to fit the frame mounts for the underside to hold the engine in the correct position. If I didnt already have the rebuilt engine and trans I would put a 390 in it (they are bullet-proof). However I think I have the engine pretty close to where it is suposed to sit.

Okay. That old weld spot is where Ford Engineers welded the Lincoln motor mount brackets to the Squarebird 352cid mounts.
I guess a previous owner blew the stock 430cid & replaced it with a 352-390cid. They would have had to remove those 430cid brackets in that situation...
