EG, what you just suggested IS doable! Several years ago I created a Microsoft Power Show from a bunch of pictures taken on the Big Island in Hawaii. I was there with several hundred business associates. I took all the pictures (dozens and dozens) and selected the best of them. I put them in a power show, added music to it, and effects. We took that show and put it onto a PC at our next convention and showed it on the big screens on each side of the stage... It worked out pretty well, and those who did not get to go on the trip got to see what all we did. Those who were with me on the trip got to enjoy it again...

We CAN create the Alexander Sosiak Virtual Tbird Fest if ya'll would like me to take a shot at it. I would need good quality pictures of your birds, (800x600 should do the trick. I can crop them if necessary), inside and out. Some of them I can get out of this years calendar. Others out the forums, if I can find them easily and fast enough. The fastest and easiest way is for you to send them to me at my email address listed in my User ID. You should probably also put in writing that you have given me permission to use pictures of your Bird for the show. We probably should have a good front, side and back shot, and a good front interior and rear interior shot.

We will need a good .wav music file. I use "Yellow Rose Of Texas", in my power show, but we need something different than that about our Birds. It can be in some other music format, like .mp3, that I can convert to a wave format.

The resulting show can be put on a CD and played in any PC that has Microsoft Office (which should include PowerPoint). Then we can send copies of that CD around the country to others who want to put on a Tbird show like you are working on. It would be best shown at night, for visibility reasons.

Sooo, there is my idea. Whatcha all think???

I think that would be a great idea!!
4 or 5 shots of each bird..Even a few details..Owner,restoed.Mods.
Would you create a photobucket account(which is free or a few bucks to upgrade) which has huge capasity and an address to view.
or burn and mail CD's?

07-29-2008, 11:01 PM
Glad you like the idea. Lets see if our other members like it also! If we use Alexander's name, we will probably have to get permission from Julie to do so. Yes, a few comments could be put on the pictures. I would keep them short and to the point.

The idea about using photobucket might work too. I can create an account just for this, create a slide show in it, and it could be run from there. IF it will show up well enough on big screens.

Another thing I was thinking about is, as I said, to see it better, those big screens should be inside or it should be shown after dark. More than likely, there are not going to be big convention screens at a car show. However, on a smaller scale, one could use a fairly good sized TV (perhaps with a shroud on it if done during the daytime to keep the sunlight off the screen) and hook up a laptop to it and run the power show from there. That might work for a car show and smaller groups of people. A power show can be set to run over and over. So if someone missed part of it, they can stand there and wait for it to start again.

I made a power show for friends of mine in Florida like this. When they show their '59 Caddy Coupe de Ville, they can also show the restoration process it went through to get it where it is today. It is one beautiful Caddy.

So let me approach this idea from two directions. One to create it on photobucket. Another as a power show that can be put on a CD and mailed out. The former idea is the easiest one, if it will work. You would need a laptop and a good sized TV and wireless internet access..

The latter idea you could check out if I were to send you my power show of "Yellow Rose" and you have a laptop with Microsoft Office on it that you can hook to a TV and run an outside test for visibility. I dont own a laptop.. That way you would not need wireless internet access.

Whatcha think? Do we have something going here that we can do?? I think so! :D

Lets see what kind of responce we get.
I like the photobucket just for the fact of adding new members to it.
Maybe a link from our home page.

07-30-2008, 01:24 AM
A disadvantage of doing it on photobucket is that someone would have to have a laptop or complete puter set up, with access to the internet. That would mean having a wireless plug in system in your laptop.. I doubt if anyone would be in a position to run a longggg cable to an internet provider connection.

The advantage of going the .pps power show direction with the show on a USB plug is that you just plug it into your puter and away you go. Or the file can be put on a CD and started from the CD player..

Yup, lets see what people think about this idea... :D

07-30-2008, 04:24 AM
Brilliant idea, especially for all of us in the Southern Hemisphere who do not have the volume of car shows you guys seem to have over yonder in the states. Ray, I will send you an email now of some photo's I have on photobucket of Penelope, but they do not have her new leather on display..that will have to wait until my next visit down to where she is.

07-30-2008, 09:32 AM
I like the CD ideal myself. Maybe we could do the Photobucket ideal afterwards??? :o

07-30-2008, 10:33 AM
I like the CD idea too... as I cannot connect to PhotoBucket from "work".. altho I can get to FotoTime.com, where I have a few pics posted.... http://www.fototime.com/ftweb/bin/ft.dll/home

With that poster I hope you have enough room to park at least 500 cars. Around here we charge $15.- $20. for entry fee and don't have any legs like that.;)
Good Luck and we all will be waiting for pictures:cool:

Oops.. that link didn't work...it's this one...

07-30-2008, 04:27 PM
Glad you like the idea.

I like both ideas, good thinking Yellow Rose. I'd prefer the CD as down here a lot of people are on dial up rather than high speed broadband, but Photobucket would work too. Thanks!

Ray I think your idea is great and that it would also benefit both members and non members alike. The CD format would be a lot more universal to all groups / countries, as the wireless method although probably has better resolution, may not be a feasable. The other area that this would benefit is the various car groups / TBird clubs all over, to see not only the TBirds but the various years, colours, styles, and modifications the owners have put on them. We just had a presentation at our Tbird club that had old footage in the 60's of sales presentations from Ford that was burned to a CD. It turned ot great.

Thanks for the input! I have just begun to put a Power Show together. I am going to see if I can post it here, but I probably cant. So far, I started off with Alexander's white Tbird, and put in Bill's "Penelope". You can send pictures to me sized 1024x768. That size is almost a perfect fit in the box. I need music! A .wav file.. I think there was a movie called "Rolling Thunder". I have no clue what music was in it, but maybe the theme song from that?? Lets see if I can attach this power show... Nope, it will not go because it is not a recognized file type. Bill, I will send it to you in email. It is just a start...:D

07-31-2008, 03:06 AM
So far, I have added Alexander's Tbird from the calendar as the beginning picture in the power show. Bill has sent me pix of Penelope, so he leads off after that. Then Bob M. sent me pix of his, so his is next. Then Bill suggested that I find the music from an old British Sci-Fi puppet show of the '60's, called The Thunderbirds, and I did. So I converted those files to .wav format.

So now I have Alexander's, and two others cars in the show. Here is what I would like to do. Bob suggested some "before" and "after" pictures, and I think that is a great idea. So he sent me some. Bill did not take any before ones, unfortunately. So here is what I would like you to do when you send me pictures.

So please send me pictures of what your Birds looked like when you first got them. I think three pictures should do it. A frontal one that also gives you a side view. One of the engine bay, which I think is important for people to see what it looked like when we first got our cars. And one of the interior, hopefully being able to show a picture of the front and the back at the same time. So that would be three pictures "before" restoration started.

Then "after" restoration, a picture of a frontal view. A side view. There is no need to give me shots of both sides of the car because they will both look the same. A picture of the restored engine, a picture of the restored front interior, and one of the back interior and finally, a rear end shot. That would be six shots for a total of nine per car. I think that would do the trick. I added two interior shots because I think we want to give people the chance to see in detail both the front and the back. On the "before" shots, I think it would be sufficient to just use one shot, so people can get an idea of the overall interior condition when you got it.

If you can send them in 1024x768 size that works almost perfectly. However, if they are larger or smaller I can expand or compact them into the square I have to work with. I have sent a copy of what I have done so far to Bill and Bob. If you would like to see it, let me know if I can use your email address in your User ID. Pretty soon it is going to be to large to send by email. It is already 7.2mb in size, including the music file.

Let me know what ya think about this. If you don't like the idea, I will stop working on it. If ya do, please send me some good quality digital pictures! :D

Hi ya Ray

Thanks for doing this virtual show for the members.

Sorry, struggling with sending you pics. Tried both your PM and email links, and while it allows me to attach a URL for the images (which I don't have) I can't figure out how to directly attach and email files to you.

Would you please PM me your actual email address. I have some before and during (attached here) of my '62, but none after as it's not quite finished.

08-07-2008, 01:28 AM
Alistair, I sent you a PM with my email info. When you look at my user ID info, you should see, off to the right, the options to send me an email or a PM. If you click on Send me an Email, it will send it to the email address I am using. Although it is not showing, there is an email address there. Some of you do not have one set up, but I do. You just dont see it.

Juan, I got your photos off loaded that I want to use. She is a very pretty car. I have never seen anyone paint their gas tank and A-frames before, (until my mechanic painted mine silver!) to match the body paint!

Keep those pix coming! I added Alexander's white car, but still need a good picture of his black Golde Top. I also added Kevin Hansons really pretty mint green one, I think was the color.

08-07-2008, 04:20 PM
Thanks a lot Ray, got your PM and have sent you the photos

I'm sure I speak for everyone on this forum when I say thanks for all the work you do for us

08-07-2008, 06:57 PM
Thanks, Alistair! Today, I have added pix from Kevin Hason, Alistair, Juan Tejeda, and added another set of pix from Rusty. Wait until you see those! This should be one terrific power show. It is about 40mb big now. Send me some more pix. I would love to get some from Dano, JohnG, and many others. I still have about a week before I have to ship this show to EG for his show. So I have time to add yours.:D

Hi JT, yes, I can add some "before" pix to the show. We will have plenty of room on that CD. So send me some of those. I like getting the "Before" and "After" pix when you have them. It lets others see what you started with (like Rusty's "Playboy" for example) and what you ended up with.

EG I sent you a PM. You should see that waiting for you when you log back on. Keep sending me those pix, guys! I have time to get them in still.:)

"FUN,FUN, FUN" by the Beach Boys is one of my favorite oldies, def in my top 5.

Hi Bart,

Thanks for the only picture of your Bird! It is better than nothing, and she is a real beauty! I have got to rent that movie! I keep hearing about it.

08-08-2008, 12:40 PM
Hey, that's great. I just posted them on the CarDomain web site where you got my others. Let me know if that will work for you or is I need to send them directly to you.

08-08-2008, 02:06 PM

I still want one of those posters!
Would look killer framed and hung in the shop.

Tell me how I can get one EG!

08-08-2008, 03:42 PM
Hey Casey!

I just printed out that sign and it came out about three quarters of the way on 8x11 paper. It doesn't look bad on paper. Maybe EG will get one off to you. Do I have pix of your Bird yet? I am losing count!

JT, I picked up several "before" pix and will post them. I like getting those "Before" pix! Thanks.:p
