MAC'S IS NOT closing September 1st! I just talked with a MAC's representative at length and was told that the Buffalo News and other news outlets has it wrong. MAC is moving their warehouse to a much larger Florida warehouse owned by Eckler Industries, who recently bought out MAC's. The New York office and show room will remain open. You will still order through MAC's in NY as you have in the past. However, your order will come from their Florida warehouse in the future. It was my understanding that those in the New York area who are used to going to MAC's personally to pick up their orders will be able to do so, after their order is received from the Florida warehouse in NY. Although I did not ask about the reports of layoffs, I suspect they will be some due to the warehouse re-location. But the point is that MAC's is NOT closing as that report said.

Thanks for that research and clarification Ray. Too bad that reporter didn't do the same...

Now that makes more sense. Reminds me of a saying an old friend of mine in upstate NY used to use: "Will the last person leaving New York please turn out the light."

I saw this coming back when Ecklers bought Mac's. If they plan to maintain a presence in NY it will only be for a short time. No doubt New Your State will want to tax the profits of the corporation no matter where they are because they do business in New York. New York has never been friendly to business.
Sad to see this about Mac's. At one time there were knowledgeable folks available but but not lately. With the call center in FL it will be staffed by 'Order Takers'.

For those of us fortunate enough to be able to visit MAC's in person - Sept 1 will be the end of an era.

Although the MAC's name will likely live on, for us locals and especially for those 50-some who will be unemployed, MAC's will be history.

There is zero chance that they will maintain any local presence here. Their facility is relatively new and will be ripe for some other operation to take over.

I just spoke with MAC's again regarding their supposed September 1st closing. Again, they insist that their New York facility is NOT closing. The part of their operation that is being re-located is the Order Department, and the Warehouse. Those two entities will be re-located to their bigger Florida warehouse.

They insist that their New York facility is NOT closing down. Those in New York will be able to go to the NY facility to pick up parts, if they wish, or they can be shipped directly to your home. If you desire to pick them up at their NY store, they will notify you when the parts have come in so you can pick them up there if you wish. I was told that if anyone has further questions to please all them at (800) 828-1051 and they will be glad to explain this to you.
