Hello Members,

I haven't been on this forum for awhile so I hope everyone is well. The library section of this website lists the torque setting for the steering nut to be between 40 and 60 foot pounds. What torque did you use on your 64 T-bird? I am replacing my brothers 'detent' and I was looking for a more precise tightness. 40 to 60 foot pounds seem like a wide margin. Thank you for your input.

Sincerely,

Patrick

Since the steering wheel is splined with the shaft, I don't think this torque is critical. I would think 40 foot pounds should be enough. - Dave
