I looked in the TRL, the shop manual and did a search and I did not see a diagram for the taillight section. I saw a few references to four nuts but not specifically for a 1960.

I removed the four nuts that I could see from the studs on the inside of the trunk and the taillight bezel will not come out. I whacked on it with a punch and hammer and it did not move. I am afraid to hit it harder if there are other bolts that I cannot see.

Are there any other studs or bolts holding it in?

There are four studs per side. The taillight plate can be stuck pretty good. Maybe spray some wd40 from both sides and be persistent. They will come off. You're right to be concerned about damage from force. More hits of medium force will be better than fewer hits of greater force.

There are 3 foam donut type seals on each tail light. Many times they are glued in place or stuck pretty tight over the years. It could be what is holding the waffle plates to the body.

I could take of picture of my spare parts if you want to see what the waffle plate, bezel and seals look like. Let me know.

Thank you for the help. What a pain! I finally got them out by pounding the nuts and studs. The rubber goo was so sticky that I am surprised they came out at all.

Are those foam donut seals reproduced and sold by any of the vendors? Some of mine are pretty crusty.

Thanks!

Yes, most of the vendors have them, assuming you are talking about the foam seals that are beveled on one side. I think they sell for about $8-$9 ea.

Yes, I see them now. I have scrolled through those online catalogs so many times I am embarrassed I missed them. :o

Those pads are available from The Bird Nest (and I am sure from most other Tbird parts houses). They are called Tail Light Housing to Body Pad and six are required, one per tail light. They are listed on Page 13 in the Bumper section of their catalog. The part number is 13420C and they sell for $7.95 each. You might check some of the other parts houses to see if they list them cheaper.

Trying to take the assembly out of a Donor car, Is there any trim that needs to come off ? The Bumper? or just keep working at it?

Once you remove all the nuts you will have to pry them off. They're glued to the body. Nothing else needs to come off.
