So I finally have the motor out of the 60 Sunliner. Plan on sending the block and heads to a machine shop soon. The brakes hardly worked when I got the car so I just got around to going through the brake system. I'm sure the booster needs a rebuild and the master cylinder was full of sludge at the bottom so that will be replaced. Also highly considering a front disc set up. Anyways, the vacuum canister was 1/4 full of brake fluid. Not sure how this happens or the best way to clean it out. Maybe it just needs to be replaced?

It got there from the master, which leaked into it. The booster operates by a rubber diaphragm, and if that's original it's well past it's life, so rebuild it or replace it.

The booster and master will definitely be rebuilt or replaced. What's the best way to clean all that brake fluid out of the vacuum canister?

Disassemble, detergent, brake clean, then paint.
